The Everyday Ordinary

I think my happiest

Everyday habit is

Washing my clothes by hand

My hands' touch feeling fabric in water

The smell of lavender soap

This washes my heart as well

This action

If someone felt it were nothing more than a chore

I wonder if they might also feel it were largely unworthy of living earnestly

The everyday ordinary of life for which I pay respects

To that rich living I believe I have felt from my heart ...
